Overview

AIMug helps marketing teams draft on-brand copy in seconds. The brief was to make an AI tool feel like a calm writing space rather than a control panel, while keeping the advanced options a click away.

Discovery: Interviewed eight copywriters to map how they move between brief, draft and approval.

Editor Design: Designed a single-column editor with prompts, history and tone controls in a collapsible side panel.

Design System: Built a dark-first component library with tokens that also power the marketing site.

Challenges

An AI writing tool has to earn trust quickly. Users need to understand what the model will do before they press the button, and they need to stay in control of the result.

Clarity of Output:

Challenge: Generated text appeared all at once, and users could not tell which parts came from their prompt.
Solution: Stream results paragraph by paragraph and highlight phrases taken from the brief.

Dark Interface Readability:

Challenge: Long passages on a dark background caused eye strain in early tests.
Solution: Raise body text contrast, widen line height and limit the editor to a comfortable measure.

Onboarding:

Challenge: New users did not know what to type in an empty editor.
Solution: Offer starter templates for the five most common tasks, each with an editable example prompt.

Results/Conclusion:

The redesigned editor shortened the time from sign-up to first saved draft and reduced support questions about prompts. The shared token library let the team ship the new marketing site in the same visual language within two weeks.
