FlowArch - Architecture Service Website

Client For:
FlowArch Studio
Services:
UI UX Design, Development
Overview
FlowArch is an architecture studio whose work speaks through photography. The new site had to step back and let the buildings lead, while still making it easy for prospective clients to get in touch.
Art Direction: Full-bleed photography, a restrained type scale and a monochrome palette with one accent colour.
Content Model: Projects, services and team members managed as structured content so the studio can update the site without a developer.
Performance: Responsive images and lazy loading keep a photo-heavy site fast on mobile connections.
Challenges
Photography-led sites are easy to make beautiful and hard to make fast and usable. The studio also wanted to update projects themselves.
Image Weight:
- Challenge: Original project photos were often larger than 10 MB each.
- Solution: Generate modern formats in several widths at build time and serve the smallest one that fits the screen.
Readable Text Over Photos:
- Challenge: Headlines placed on busy photographs were hard to read.
- Solution: Add a subtle gradient behind text and pick crops with calm areas for copy.
Editorial Workflow:
- Challenge: Every new project used to require a developer.
- Solution: Move project pages to Markdown files with a fixed set of fields and a short guide for the team.
Results/Conclusion:
The studio now publishes new projects on its own, and the site loads quickly despite being built around large photography. Enquiries through the contact form increased after launch, with most visitors arriving on a project page first.
